WES YOUNG - HEAD COACH

Wes has been practicing jiu-jitsu since 2015 and is currently a brown belt under Professor Paulo Marmund.

He began his training in London at The Budokwai and Fight Zone London (Checkmat), before moving down to Wiltshire in 2021. Around this time he discovered a passion for coaching and was soon offered the role of head coach of Gracie Barra Salisbury, which he held until deciding to open Frontier.

As a coach, he draws influence from the works of John Danaher and Lachlan Giles and tries to focus on techniques and teaching methods that have proven effective at the highest levels of the sport.

- SENIOR PROFESSOR

Paulo started his jiu-jitsu journey in 2000 at 20 years old in Salvador Brazil and received his black belt in 2012. He has competed at the highest professional level on broadcasted tournaments like Combat Jiu-Jitsu Worlds and became IBJJF London No-Gi champion in 2023, winning by his signature move - the buggy choke. He was multiple time state champion between 2004-2007 and won second place at CBJJO Worlds in 2010.

After living and teaching in Brazil, United States, Portugal and Mexico, Paulo recorded an instructional video “Buggy Choke the World from Everywhere“ which went on to become a best seller on BJJ Fanatics. He moved to United Kingdom in 2023 and is based out of Southern Quarter in Amesbury.
